In our Personal Touch with Rebecca Cressman segment, she interviews Mark Chamberlain, Ph.D. Mark is a psychologist and clinical director of the ARCH, Addiction Resource Center for Healing, in South Jordan and Clearfield, Utah. He’s authored or coauthored several books, including Willpower Is Not Enough: Why We Don't Succeed at Change, Confronting Pornography, and Wanting More: The Challenge of Enjoyment in the Age of Addiction. Mark’s new book, Love You, Hate the Porn: Healing a Relationship Damaged by Virtual Infidelity (with Geoff Steurer) will be published in 2011.

Russ Beck has written his article “Something Wicked This Way Comes,” and posted it in his blog On the Couch. He mentions the tale of the fox and the bird, the one where the fox got a feather from the bird one at a time, until the bird couldn’t fly away. He compares that behavior to an evil habit that some people participate in: pornography. Russ Beck is a licensed, professional counselor with a Master's degree from the University of Wyoming. He's been involved in the mental health field for the past twenty-three years as a therapist and administrator.

At LDS Media Talk, Larry Richman gives us "Resources in Overcoming Pornography." He says: "Some of the resources listed can help individuals overcome a problem with pornography. Others are organizations who help in the fight against the continuing expansion of the availability of pornography." Please, check them out, they may be of help to someone you know.

Our last article, “Drawing Together When Pornography Threatens to Tear Apart Your Marriage,” was co-written by Mark Chamberlain, PhD, and Rebecca Jorgensen, PhD, for Combating Pornography. They make you realize that there are victims when people decide to go this route, and others get hurt: family, friends, they don’t matter, only the desire to go on. They explain to us the feelings that couples go through when they come in for counseling, and what are the ways that seem to help couples work more productively together.

If you have any comments or concerns about this issue, send us a line. If you know of someone who needs help, we hope that we have given you plenty of resources to get in touch with.

  1. I have some great resources as I work for ContentWatch, the makers of Net Nanny.
